3 Ways to Instill Faith in Your Children this Easter | By: The GOV Team | Published 4/11/14  No matter if the origins of the holiday are rooted in Christianity or not, it seems every season brings new controversy to Christians. Have you noticed this? Christmas: Santa Claus, Elf on the Shelf, trees and lights. Valentine’s Day: Chocolate, candy hearts, cards. St Patrick’s Day: Leprechauns, green clothing, accessories, candy. You probably get the idea – and we didn’t even list Halloween!  The challenge with these nationally recognized holidays is that we easily fall into one of two camps: 1. Boycott. After all, this is just another greedy, consumer based holiday which is completely devoid of all real meaning… OR 2. Hey, it’s for the kids. What’s wrong with making Valentine cupcakes for their entire class? And while we’re at it, let’s not forget to buy candy for the Easter egg

When it comes to doing God’s will, we tend to think of something like a plan. It usually has a step one and two and so on. Sometimes it even involves timing and structure. I think when God thinks of His own will He sees a battlefield- to which we cringe. I think the only ‘plan’ involved is charge, reclaim and give Him the glory. Perhaps He looks down at our outlines and carefully laid supplies and sees in our faces a bit too much self confidence. With a gentle hand, He often sweeps away our ideas and grasps our hands with a firm and eternal grip. There is a humility in it- it is all about humility. The Dark Side

Dear friends, As I’m sure many of you are aware, recent media activity specifically targeting our young people is very alarming. While this has been going on for some time, the Grammy’s (aired on January 26th) took on a much darker side than we’ve seen before.  The same evening the Disney Channel introduced their first gay parenting couple, on the prime time family show “Good Luck Charlie”, despite the best efforts of organizations such as 1 Million Moms (Disney failed to respond to the literally thousands of protest emails). Where the entertainment industry is leading our children is of the utmost concern, and the examples listed above are only the tip of the iceberg.
